Bob Dylan’s 33rd studio album really seemed to come out of the blue. I guess there was very little promotion and hype for it but then again Bob Dylan has never needed hype to sell music. Regardless, Together Through Life was a pleasant surprise. The album contains ten original new songs by Dylan. It is a catchy collection of gritty blues and lusty love songs. Bob Dylan’s venerable voice blends perfectly with the shadowy but rhythmic instrumental music. Each toe tapping track has the familiarity of folk and the restlessness of blues that combines to make a very listenable album. I am a huge Bob Dylan fan so of course I recommend this record. Even if you aren’t a Dylan acolyte it is hard to deny that his 33rd studio album at the age of 68 is further proof of his vitality, longevity, and prolific musical genius.
