I ventured into the historic U Street Corridor in DC and then down to the Black Cat to see The Kills last night. The indie rock duo formed by Alison “VV” Mosshart and Jamie “Hotel” Hince is electrifying. The Kills’ music is a raw lo-fi blend of blues, punk, and pop. The show was HOT. Jamie and Alison have an amazing chemistry and stage presence that lights up the venue. ”VV” is a total rock star, she filled the stage with passion and energy while “Hotel” tore away at his guitar. Their interactions with the audience and between each other were push and pull the whole night. The whole show was an exciting and even kinky experience (as weird as that sounds it’s the best description I can think of).
Their third release Midnight Boom came out in March but their second album No Wow is by far my favorite so I decided to post it instead.
