I celebrated my 23 birthday last night in Washington DC. I am interning at the National Taxpayers Union in Alexandria and living in Foggy Bottom for the summer. I love DC, the atmosphere, the weather, the food, and of coarse the music scene. DC has a robust and eclectic music scene. I am really excited for all the great shows I will see this summer.
What better way to kick it all off than with a great show on my birthday. Langhorne Slim and the War Eagles is a Brooklyn based folk/soul/rock trio. They put on an incredible performance last night at the intimate Iota Bar in Arlington. Langhorne Slim’s music is so stirring and powerful. Its got a great soul and blues element that is mixed with jumping rhythms and hard driving melodies. This is music you can lament to and still have fun with. Langhorne Slim’s self-titled follow up to When the Sun’s Gone came out this week. Pick up either records if you like great heart broken folk rock!
