My favorite blog based out of Chicago launched the first ever independent online music-video-channel this week!  In their own words this site will be dedicated to:

“documenting independent music as it happens. As a visual extension of the music coverage Pitchfork has provided for more than a decade, and a means of updating and advancing the music television format, the online channel will bring you closer to the artists you love, through original mini-documentaries, secret rooftop and basement sessions, full concerts, exclusive interviews, and the most carefully curated selection of music videos online.”

This is simply amazing, revolutionary in many respects, and in reality long overdue.  Pitchfork.tv was launched on Monday morning with exclusive live performances by Radiohead and the Liars.  That was only the beginning!   No one should ever watch MTV for lack of a better alternative because now there finally is one.  I have already wasted at least an hour every day this week in front of my computer watching Pitchfork TV.  Since Pitchfork is an independent company there are no labels, investors, or middle aged suit wearing CEOs that control the creative element of this music channel.  I love pitchfork!  If you haven’t checked out pitchforkmedia.com or pitchfork.tv you don’t know what you are missing.  Pitchfork is the vanguard of music journalism.  I recommend it to anyone who is passionate about music.
